A pivot window functions similarly to a traditional casement window but with a different opening mechanism. Instead of being side-hinged like a door, the movable part (the casement with the glazing) pivots from the center, either vertically or horizontally, using hinges mounted in the middle of the frame. For roof windows, a higher pivot point option is available to create more headroom when standing directly in front of the window.

When opened, the casement’s catches are released, allowing it to pivot. Unlike regular casement windows, this design does not offer a tilt function.
